has been very positive. THE diversity of the fifty-five word reviews was very cool to see and the first "official" review of the album was published over at Saving Country Music, right here. Triggerman gave it "two guns up" . I am working on getting the album out to other outlets for review. Seriously, it seems like everytime you turn around a little bit of your wallet is lost. Im sympathetic to those who have to choose between a new cd or a six pack of beer. I can guarantee you that beer will win almost everytime in my house, and then I hit Pandora to listen to the tunes....

On OCtober 23rd, I will be playing with Dave Lefever and Thomas Roue at the CHestnut Hill CAfe in Lancaster. In honor of the gathering, the three of us recorded a campfire session at my house under a full moon one early October Night. Amazing good times. In other news, I was asked to compose a few songs for a script "ELIJAH THE PROPHET"

"Elijah the Prophet is the Canadian Short Screenplay Competition’s 2010/11 winning screenplay that tells the comedic story of Elijah: the pious, chummy… and alcoholic prophet, whose yearly antics have graced Jewish households for ages. Unfortunately for the childlike servant of God, not everyone understands drunk driving is, for him, a divine right, and he soon ends up in trouble with the law."

IT was really fun to read a script and write songs inspired by the words. Its a killer, smart script and the people involved have been very cool to me. THere is a KICKSTARTER campaign to get the project rolling.

in the darkness of fall and winter

So-- I had a bunch of songs that I recorded around the house during the dark hours of fall and winter. I figured I would just release them as a free album, and throw on a few old songs that were sitting around staring at me.

What came about was "In the Darkness of Fall and WInter"; many of the songs were recorded in different places in and outside of my house. Just one take. Me sitting with a guitar or banjo, and trying to capture the mood that I was feeling. Yep-- there are bad notes and mistakes, but I felt that the honesty of that moment was more important. Its the flaws that makes it human.

Upcoming show, Review and New ALbum....

Winter is always a tough time for me....too much darkness and being indoors creates an unsteady view of the world...luckily, some good things occur here and there to bring me back to productivity....

I am playing a show at York Emporium, the coolest bookstore I have ever been to and the site of last year's Cigar Box Festival, (future site of THIS years Cigar Box Fest in late August)

Its On Friday, February 4th at 7pm, and I will be playing some cigarbox guitar as well as performing some songs acoustically on my banjo and D-28---I know its advertised as "LOUD HOT AND BLUE" but much of the evening will be pretty intimate---no PA system, so it will be very much like a living room concert. Cool Place, if you can make it...I would love to see ya. Bring some wine or beer or something in a bottle to keep ya warm.

BIO

I was raised in the southern rural area of Pennsylvania and draw much of my inspiration from the fields, rivers, and woods of that area. Themes of solitude, loss, regret, destruction and rebirth are recurring throughout my work. Starting in 2007 as a lo-fi acoustic entity known as myquietsongs, I began infusing traditional acoustic melodies with distortion drenched drums, radio signals and bad microphones to create something entrenched in tradition, but hinting at something that incorporates and embraces both modern and ancient performance elements. Mood is more important than technique; I record most of my songs before the sun rises…4am, 5am..dreams still vivid..
